CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW TAXIWAY CHARLIE AND TAXIWAY DELTA

1  INTRODUCTION

1.1  The construction of the new Taxiway Charlie and Taxiway Delta at Bintulu Airport, Sarawak has been scheduled from 04th November 2024 until 03rd May 2028.

2  OBJECTIVES

2.1  The purpose of this AIRAC AIP Supplement is to notify the aviation industry of the construction works on the new Taxiway Charlie and Taxiway Delta and other facilities within Bintulu Airport, Sarawak.

3  SCOPE OF WORKS

3.1  The work will be carried out in three (3) areas. (Appendix A and Appendix B – Layout of Works for Area A, Area B & Area C)

3.1.1  Area A

This area involves 140 m from Runway Centreline up to the edge of the existing security fencing. The work in this area is mainly to carry out the following activities:

  1. Earthworks;

  2. Drainage;

  3. Flexible Pavement;

  4. Installation of Aerodrome Ground Lighting System;

  5. Pavement Markings; and

  6. Security Fencing.

3.1.2  Area B

This area is adjacent to the Runway (within 140 m from Runway Centreline). The work in this area is mainly to carry out the following activities:

  1. Earthworks;

  2. Drainage;

  3. Flexible Pavement;

  4. Installation of Aerodrome Ground Lighting System; and

  5. Pavement Markings.

3.1.3  Area C

This area is adjacent to the Runway (within 140 m from Runway Centreline). The work in this area is mainly to carry out the following activities:

  1. Earthworks;

  2. Drainage;

  3. Flexible Pavement;

  4. Installation of Aerodrome Ground Lighting System; and

  5. Pavement Markings.

4  WORK PROGRAM

4.1  The work program for the proposed new Taxiway Charlie and Taxiway Delta is divided for three (3) working areas and the tentative works are scheduled as follows:

4.2  During this phase of works and within the times in above table, works involving any portion of the runway and other associated works (if any) will be completed within the non-operating hours and operationally ready for flights in the next day.

5  PRECAUTIONS

5.1  Pilots are advised to take note of the precautions on the presence of open excavation, workers, construction materials and construction equipment, particularly while works within the areas are in progress.

7  VALIDITY

7.1  This AIRAC AIP Supplement will remain in force until 03rd May 2028. Any updates, changes or cancellation to this supplement will be notified through NOTAM.
